Everton have booked a meeting with Fiorentina’s Director of Football Pantaleo Corvino to discuss a deal for midfielder Josip Ilicic, according to Corriere Fiorentino.

Yesterday afternoon saw footage emerge of Everton’s DoF Steve Walsh arriving in Milan for talks with both AC Milan and Inter.

That was followed by reports of an interview by Blues scout Carlo Jacomuzzi with Radio CRC in Italy in which he claimed the club were there to talk with both Milan clubs as well as Fiorentina and Napoli.

Since then, a long list of potential Serie A targets have been suggested in various media outlets, the latest of which has been M’baye Niang.

Now a new name has appeared on the list and that is Fiorentina midfielder Josip Ilicic and if reports are to believed, the interest is firm.

According to Corriere Fiorentino, Everton have a meeting booked with Pantaleo Corvino to negotiate a possible move the midfielder. As yet a price hasn’t been mentioned, although he does only have a year left on his deal so it’s unlikely to be high.

An attacking midfielder who can also play as a second striker, there could be some sense to the move. Ronald Koeman has been keen to add to his sides attacking threat and it’s creativity and Ilicic could help both factors.

However, with Davy Klaassen close to completing his move and Gylfi Sigurdsson also thought to be a target, it is hard to see Ilicic being nothing more than a back up option.
