Despite claims to the contrary in the ever-reliable Italian press, Everton are actually not interested in the Juventus midfielder Mario Lemina. Multiple outlets picked up on the story that the Toffees Director of Football Steve Walsh was in Milan for meetings (he was), and immediately added that he would speak with the Serie A champions about the Gabon international as well (he wasn’t).
However, the pretty reputable Ed Aarons of the Guardian has said that the Blues are in fact not interested in Lemina and in fact are pretty well-stocked at his position to begin with.
Walsh’s appearance in Italy yesterday sparked off a storm of transfer rumours, with the Blues being linked with up to a dozen players who ply their trade there -
AC Milan -
- M’baye Niang
- Gianluca Lapadula
- Carlos Bacca
- Ever Banega
- Marcelo Brozovic
- Jeison Murillo
- Josep Ilicic
Juventus -
- Mario Lemina
- Norberto Neto
Udinese -
- Duvan Zapata
As of now, pretty much every one of these names aside from Niang seems like wild speculation. There are reports however that Niang is currently at Finch Farm, which could mean that there might be something to that story, we’ll keep you posted as news breaks.
