While Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley might be balking at signing new long-term contracts at Everton, fellow forward Kevin Mirallas has no such issues and will sign his new deal tomorrow.
Speaking at Everton’s end of season awards gala, known as The Dixies, club chairman Bill Kenwright announced that the man in the ‘funny suit’ would be signing a new deal tomorrow, referring to the Belgian’s sartorial choice of the evening.
Kenwright went on to say that the Blues were committed to a move to the Bramley-Moore docks, and that he and majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri would do whatever it takes to get Ronald Koeman and Steve Walsh their transfer targets during the summer window.
“You own this club. We don’t. Farhad doesn’t own this club. You do.
“We are totally focused on getting this club to the Dock.
“If there is a player that wants to play for Everton, that Ronald and Steve want, we will get them.”
While a bit more quality than Mirallas will be needed for the Blues to make it into the top four next season, a player of his skill and experience is an invaluable part of the big squad Koeman will have to rely on as Everton participate in the Europa League as well as on three fronts domestically next season.
