Jonjoe Kenny has picked up the Dixie award for Everton’s Youth Player of the Season for his stellar year with the Everton Under-23 side that lifted the Premier League 2 title yesterday.

The captain of the youth side also appeared for the senior team towards the end of the game against Swansea. The right back has been in multiple matchday squads but in only his second senior appearance on Saturday, Kenny looked bright down the right wing as the Blues pushed for a late equalizer.

The 20-year-old capped off his excellent year with a call-up to England’s squad for the Under-20 World Cup to be held in South Korea starting later this month. He is one of five Toffees selected for the competition.

Speaking with evertontv on Saturday after the game, he said -

“When you come on, you’ve got to try and influence the game as best as you can. You want to help the team to get the win.

“The manager’s instructions were to just get up and down, put some crosses in and do what I’ve done well for the Under-23s, so I tried to put that into the game.

“I enjoyed coming on. It’s been a long season but at the end of the day, we didn’t get the result we wanted. We needed the three points so it’s been a tough afternoon.”
