It’s been clear for some time that Ronald Koeman, Steve Walsh, and Bill Kenwright have a clear cut shopping list for this summer’s transfer market, with their priorities being Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, and Gylfi Sigurdsson.
One down, two to go.
According to one source, the fee will be in the region of £17 million, and Pickford is set for a hefty raise, as expected.
Pickford, 23, is considered England’s top young goalkeeping talent, given Jack Butland’s injury history. He will be expected to take over the starter’s role right away, with Maarten Stekelenburg likely moving on from the club and Joel Robles relegated to spot duty.
Whenever a move is announced, it will represent yet another statement of intent for Farhad Moshiri and company. Everton are signing some of the brightest young talents in England, and beating alleged “bigger” clubs to the punch, too. Is Michael Keane next?
Pickford would likely be a solution between the sticks for many years to come, and go on to represent England at multiple World Cups. It’s the perfect transfer for a club on the rise.
