Everton and the fans are not going to have good immediate memories of Sunday’s referee Robert ‘Bobby’ Madley who has officiated some very unpleasant recent losses. The weekend opponents at Goodison Park, Leicester City themselves have a rough record with Madley with no wins in Premier League games he has refereed.

The referee was in charge for the 5-0 mauling at Chelsea earlier this season, as well as the abject display away in the Merseyside Derby last season when Ramiro Funes Mori was sent off for a poor high tackle. This will be the third game of the current season with Madley, also including a September loss at AFC Bournemouth.

In 23 Premier League games this season, he has handed out 97 yellow cards and 1 red card. Last season though, in 26 games he gave out much fewer cautions, 70 in total, but then also had 5 straight dismissals as well.
