Everton can be pretty unhappy with the Premier League’s choice of referee for Sunday’s game at Goodison Park against League-leaders Chelsea.
Jonathan Moss has done one Everton game previously, a loss at Stamford Bridge for the Blues back in February 2015. In that game, Gareth Barry was sent off for a second caution, and a minute later Willian potted the only goal of the game. Meanwhile, indiscretions by the hosts (as shown above in the picture) went unpunished, leaving Everton manager Roberto Martinez livid and fuming after the game.
Moss has also sent off another Everton player previously, Steven Pienaar receiving his second booking a few years ago in a draw at Queens Park Rangers. The ref is on an explosive pace for the season by his own standards, giving out 105 yellow cards and 3 red cards in 27 games - he had 75 + 2 in 25 games last season, and 114 + 3 in 30 games officiated the season before.
Overall the Toffees haven’t done too well when Moss has officiated, picking up four wins, three draws and eight losses in fifteen games, to go with 31 yellows and two reds. Today is his third Everton game of the season, having been in charge for the draws at home to Crystal Palace and away at Hull City.
