Everton beat Burnley 3-1 to make it eight straight wins at Goodison Park and jumped up into fifth place as a result.

Visitors Burnley dominated the opening exchanges and will count themselves very unlucky to have not taken the lead in the first half. It was not until about the half hour mark when the hosts Everton started to control the game, and could have even taken the lead a couple of times.

Everton stepped it up in the second half, despite a brain fart from Joel Robles that had Burnley briefly back in the game. Some sustained pressure led to the opening goal, from club captain Phil Jagielka no less - his third goal in consecutive games, scrambling the ball home in a melee. The Clarets equalized soon after, with Joel conceding an unnecessary penalty, and then was sent the wrong way.

Ross Barkley capped off a tumultuous week with a double-deflected goal to put the Blues ahead, and then Romelu Lukaku turned Everton-target Michael Keane and left him for dead before hammering home to make it 3-1 for the Toffees.
