In a back and forth game yesterday at Goodison Park, Everton got off to a flying start, then promptly fell asleep before roaring back into the lead, this time for good. The Blues won 4-2 to maintain their 100% winning streak at home in 2017, with goals from Tom Davies, Phil Jagielka and a brace for the Premier League’s top striker Romelu Lukaku.
Toffees manager Ronald Koeman would not have been pleased with how his side were brutally exposed on a 4th minute counter attack by the Foxes, and equally irritated by goalkeeper Joel Robles failure to track Marc Albrighton’s freekick that dipped over him and into the goal to put Leicester up 2-1 after the tenth minute.
With the visitors’ minds more on an upcoming Champions League game on Wednesday, Everton regained their focus and were able to pull themselves back into the game before running away with it early in the second half when they extended their lead to two goals.
