Everton fans have been anxiously awaiting further news of the new stadium’s development, and today Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson offered up a few hopeful nuggets.

In relation to the future of the club and where we are with the stadium, I'm confident that the club's future is secure and there will be an announcement shortly which the fans have wanted to hear.

Given that previous locations for the project have failed to move forward, the fact that city leaders are continuing to make affirmative public statements will be a welcome relief for the Blues and their supporters.

I'm still absolutely certain that there will be a new ground and it won't be far off until the announcement.

It seems clear now that Bramley Moore is the settled upon site, and that work beginning is not far away. A new owner and new manager have been put in place in the past year, and a new, state of the art ground is the next step in taking Everton to the next level.
