Star forward Romelu Lukaku has been in the news lately, becoming Everton’s top scorer in the Premier League era and with talk that a new deal is on the cards for the player. This morning talkSPORT are reporting that both Lukaku and his agent Mino Raiola have already agreed to the deal that was offered by the club and all that remains is club chairman Bill Kenwright’s signature.

Last week, Raiola had said that a new deal was virtually certain without giving more details.

“That is sure is the intention – I am 99.9999% sure he will sign.

“In football, contracts are not there to be gone to the end sometimes. But then there is always a three-party deal then.

“If everyone thinks it is better to move on, then that will be done at that moment. But for this moment, we are signing a contract with Everton.”

Now Jim White, who in the past has proved that he does appear to have an inside line with Everton majority owner Farhad Moshiri, is saying that the deal is indeed done.

While a contract means less in modern football than it ever has, what it does do is provide the Toffees with more security should European giants like Bayern Munich, Juventus or even Paris St. Germain come knocking next transfer window.

The Times added later that he would become the club’s highest-paid player with the new contract expected to be worth £140,000-a-week.

The Belgian scored this weekend to take him to 61 Premier League goals for Everton, one ahead of club legend Duncan Ferguson and into the overall lead. Here is the distribution of his 61 goals so far.
