Do you hear that? It’s the sound of the Romelu Lukaku for Premier League ‘Player of the Year’ hype train, and it’s gaining steam. With four goals and two assists in March, Everton’s main man has collected the EA Sports Player of the Month award.

It is his first award of the kind, and the month’s performance brought him to 21 goals and 6 assists on the season. He leads the league’s Golden Boot race by two over the injured Harry Kane, and is also in the league’s top ten for assists.
In fact, Lukaku is one of only two players to appear on the leaderboard in both categories. Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez checks in with 18 goals and 9 assists. Both players have directly contributed to 27 goals for their clubs.
As various outlets start to list their player of the year candidates, expect names like Kane, Sanchez, N’Golo Kante, and Eden Hazard to appear, however, perhaps no player has done more for his side this season than Lukaku.
Ronald Koeman and the Toffees will be desperate to finish the season with a bang, beginning tomorrow at Anfield. The final seven games of the season, along with early in the summer transfer window, are likely to play a huge part in determining Lukaku’s long term future with the club.
