As excitement for a new Everton stadium builds to a crescendo, one of the largest remaining questions has been what kind of seating capacity the ground will have.
A little while ago, The Liverpool Echo released some additional information on that front, stating that the official Mayor Recommendation “outlines that early planning has centred around the construction of a 50,000 seater stadium on the banks of the Mersey.”
The recommendation continues:
“Initial high-level studies conclude that the full development cost of a new 50,000 seater stadium with associated site specific facilities and infrastructure would be in excess of £300 million.”
Goodison Park, built in 1892, currently has a capacity of 39,572, so an increase of over 10,000 seats would mean a welcome bump in ticket revenue for the club.
While the Grand Old Lady will be dearly missed, Everton are flying high now under Farhad Moshiri. Onward and upward for the Toffees.
