As predicted, the Everton rumor mill rolls on, particularly when it comes to potential cover and/or replacements for Romelu Lukaku. The latest report places Everton scouts in Italy with their eyes on Sampdoria striker Patrik Schick, and perhaps more notably, Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone’s son, Giovanni Simeone.

The younger Simeone currently plies his trade for Genoa. He has 11 goals in 27 matches for the club this season, but Schick, a Czech Republic international, is an intriguing option in his own right. No one in Europe’s top 5 leagues has scored more goals off the bench this season, and he’s already got a goal for his national side in just three caps.
Simeone, 21, is valued at €8 million, while Schick, also 21, checks in at just €3.5 million.
Genoa and Sampdoria share a stadium, which will have made for a simpler trip to Italy for Steve Walsh’s men. While it is interesting that many of the forwards Everton have been linked to are younger, unproven names, it bears noting that Walsh is famous for unearthing hidden gems on the transfer market.
