Let’s get back to some football, please. This past week has been a rocky one off the pitch for Everton. Romelu Lukaku spoke with the media about his aspirations and the future of Everton, Tom Davies wasn’t selected for the England squad and Ross Barkley is rumored to be headed out in the summer. Let’s just get the boys back on the pitch and have some fun again, what do you say?
Hull City come into Goodison after a big 2-1 win over Swansea last week. The Tigers still find themselves in relegation territory and will be desperate to get something out of what should be an extremely difficult road match for them. Even more troublesome, they will be without Oumar Niasse, who has been a key cog of their revamped attack. Niasse, of course, is Everton property on loan at Hull. Per the terms of his loan agreement, he cannot play against his parent club.
These two sides played to a 2-2 draw back on December 30, when Everton came back twice from being a goal down. Barkley sealed the point with an 84th minute goal at the KCOM Stadium. A repeat outcome would be a disappointment for the Blues, who find themselves just two points back of sixth-place Manchester United. Unfortunately, the Red Devils have two games in hand on the Toffees, but more points is always better and it would put some pressure on United, who are still competing in the Europa League.
