There are three questions that have become standard for Everton manager Ronald Koeman just about every time he speaks to the media: will Everton sign Wayne Rooney, is he gunning for the Barcelona job and if Romelu Lukaku is going to sign a new contract.
He’s put and end to the Rooney and Barcelona questions, almost snapping back at journalists a week ago on both topics.
So now the only thing left that they can keep bringing up is if and when his star striker will sign a new contract. When asked today after Everton’s 3-0 win over West Browmich Albion, Koeman laughed it off -
“Maybe I need to sign that contract, so we can finish with the stories!
“What we like is that strikers find the best position in that moment and that's what happened with this game.
“He's normally in or around the box and if he drops to the left or the right that makes space for the other players. That was the message, we need running players.”
Lukaku bagged his 19th Premier League goal of the season, and is tied on top of the scoring charts with Harry Kane. It has been widely rumoured that he and his superstar agent Mino Raiola have agreed to the club’s offer of £140,000-a-week on a five-year contract, with the player ready to sign it any day now.
