Joel Robles was directly or indirectly responsible for two of Tottenham Hotspur’s three goals last weekend as Everton lost 3-2 at White Hart Lane to end the Blues nine-match unbeaten run.

However, manager Ronald Koeman has given him a vote of confidence, saying that he will get the start again this weekend as Everton host West Bromwich Albion who are just four points behind the Blues in the Premier League table.

"Joel is starting. There’s no reason to change now.”

He went on to talk about the aerial threat the Baggies pose, especially from corners. West Brom are top of the table tied with Crystal Palace in goals scored from setpieces with 19 goals so far.

“We know to be prepared against the strengths of West Brom and that’s all the set plays. They are really strong in that area.

“It’s not always possible to stop the strengths of your opponent, but we need to do the maximum, we need to have organisation and we need to be a little bit lucky.

“You also need your goalkeeper to help in defending set plays.”

Robles is playing for his Everton future, having shown enough in the last few weeks that he has the potential to remain between the sticks at Goodison Park as Koeman attempts to realize his European ambitions for the Blues. A quick bounceback from last week’s debacle will go a long way towards assuaging the fans as well.
