Everton midfielder Tom Davies has been named the Professional Footballers Association Fans’ Player of the Month, as well as the Match of the Day Young Lion of the Month.

The teenager started all three January games for the Blues, as they beat Southampton 3-0 at home, Manchester City 4-0 also at Goodison Park and then a 1-0 away win at Crystal Palace. He got his maiden Premier League goal against City, and added two assists as well, one for Romelu Lukaku and one for Seamus Coleman.

He has quickly made himself an indispensable part of the Everton midfield, coming in at a time of crisis with the star of the first half of the season Idrissa Gueye away at the Africa Cup of Nations and Ross Barkley struggling for form. Barkley has since been rejuvenated with Davies taking some of the attacking load off his shoulders.

The youngster beat out Alexis Sanchez, Dele Alli, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Harry Kane and Peter Crouch, with a surge of votes late yesterday. Ronald Koeman is in the running for the Premier League Manager of the Month and Seamus Coleman for the Player of the Month awards which should be announced by the end of this week.
