The Toffees return home to face the struggling Cherries

There remains a glimmer of hope for Everton to qualify for European football next season. But if they are going to do it on their own, meaning finish in the top six in the Premier League, they will need to pick up some points in a hurry. Heading into Saturday’s action, the Blues sit five points and a two-goal difference behind Manchester United for that coveted sixth spot.

AFC Bournemouth comes to Goodison Park in a bit of a tailspin. The team went winless in January over five games, including a blown 3-0 lead against Arsenal, getting booted out of the FA Cup by Millwall and taking just one point overall in games against Hull City, Watford FC and Crystal Palace. The transfer window offered little relief as the only player brought in was an 18-year-old goalkeeper that is unlikely to feature anytime soon.

The first meeting between these two sides was back in September at Dean Court. On that day, the Cherries came out on top thanks to 23rd-minute strike from Junior Stanislas. That man always seems to be dangerous against the Toffees. Surely the Blues will be hoping to turn that result around today as they play at Goodison Park, where they have been exceptional this season.
