Considering Arouna Kone’s age, Enner Valencia’s loan status, and the fact that Gerard Deulofeu is plying his trade in Milan these days, it’s not exactly a well kept secret that Ronald Koeman is seeking to bolster his forward ranks.
Just last month a proposed move for Algeria’s Ishak Belfodil was scuppered due to supposed character concerns.
The latest name to appear in reports is Huddersfield’s Elias Kachunga. Born in Germany, the wide man can also play centrally, and is on loan in the Championship from Bundesliga side Ingolstadt.
Kachunga has 11 goals and 3 assists for the Terriers this season, making him their top offensive contributor. Huddersfield have the option to make a permanent purchase, but if a Premier League club comes calling, both the player and his parent club will be tempted.
Valued at €1.5 million, Kachunga has one cap for Germany’s under-21 side. His mother is Congolese, which makes for an interesting connection to Everton’s Yannick Bolasie. Bolasie and Blues star striker Romelu Lukaku are said to speak in Lingala quite often.
