Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has said that he turned down some big offers for stars on his team, including Gylfi Sigurdsson, Fernando Llorente and Federico Fernandez.

The South Wales Evening Post noted on the midfielder -

Everton were among the clubs keen on Sigurdsson, with two Chinese clubs believed to have been prepared to part with upwards of £30million to secure the Iceland international's services.

Jenkins was commenting in his programme notes ahead of yesterday’s game against Leicester City.

"There were quite a few media reports in January about rival clubs looking at some of our players.

"I can confirm there was big interest in Gylfi Sigurdsson, Fernando Llorente and Federico Fernandez, in particular, and that substantial offers were turned down during the window for all three of them because we felt they were vital to our cause."

Sigurdsson and Llorente are the club’s leading scorers and Fernandez has become a key member of the Swans’ backline. Swansea are currently in fifteenth place, four points above the drop zone.

Everton failed to add an attacking midfielder despite multiple links to the Iceland international during the summer and in the January transfer window as well.
