No Everton future with Koeman, McGeady says

The Republic of Ireland international would enjoy a permanent move to Preston North End.

Currently on loan in the Championship, Everton winger Aiden McGeady spoke to the media after a strong performance against Brentford over the weekend, where he notched two goals and an assist in Preston North End’s 4-2 win.

“I’ve still got another year at Everton but I think it is quite clear that I’m not part of the manager’s plans there.

“I will see how it goes until the end of the season and see what happens in the summer. If it comes to it and Preston want to offer me something, I like it here.”

McGeady, 30, never gained traction under Roberto Martinez after his move from Spartak Moscow, making 43 Everton appearances and scoring just one goal.

It was clear his freewheeling style would not be a fit under Ronald Koeman, and it’s likely the club will look to make a permanent sale over the summer.

McGeady is the second questionable transfer Everton have made from Russia in recent years, with Senegalese striker Oumar Niasse currently on loan at Hull City after a rather disastrous move from Lokomotiv.
