London local paper the Croydon Advertiser is now reporting that the Arouna Kone move from Everton to Crystal Palace has fallen through at the last minute. While the Eagles made a late bid for the out-of-favour striker, it was expected that the paperwork would have made it through before the 11pm deadline.

However, it now appears that the deal sheet was either not submitted in time for the short term loan to be counted as valid, or some other unnamed hitch has derailed the move.

Sky Sports had reported that the Ivorian forward was on his way to Crystal Palace on loan for the rest of the season. With the Ivorian’s contract expiring at the end of this season, he would not be returning to the Blues.

The player had earlier in the day been linked with Sunderland and former Toffees manager David Moyes, but it appears the London club have won that race. He was reported to have said that he wanted to stay in the Premier League, and looks like he has had his wish.
