Despite fielding a very radical lineup against an Apollon Limassol side that also had nothing to play for, Everton ran out 3-0 winners thanks to some inspired performances from Ademola Lookman, Nikola Vlasic and a handful of teenagers.

Starting XI - Robles; Baningime, Besic, Feeney, Charsley; Schneiderlin, Klaassen; Vlasic, Mirallas, Lookman; Hornby.

Subs - Hewelt, Lavery, Duke-McKenna, Collins, Broadhead, Gordon, Denny

Lookman picked up two early goals, and could easily have had another pair or more. Vlasic completed the scoring on the evening with a deserved goal late - the Croat became the only player to feature in all six games of this failed Europa League campaign.

In what must have been a chastening experience, Morgan Schneiderlin captained the squad with Kevin Mirallas and Davy Klaassen also playing. The average age of the starting lineup yesterday was 23 years & 15 days, which was the youngest by an English club in Europe since the Toffees’ last dead rubber game, against BATE Borisov also in the Europa League back in December 2009 at 22 years & 319 days.
