The Toffees hope to celebrate the holidays with three points from the defending champs

Merry Christmas! It’s a blue-on-blue match at Goodison Park today to kick off the holiday weekend.

Defending champions Chelsea are up to third in the Premier League and looking to go even higher. However, they are coming off of a mid-week Carabao Cup clash with Bournemouth that did feature some of their big boys. As they are fighting on four fronts right now, there could be some rotation in Antonio Conte’s squad, which would be to Everton’s immense advantage.

Big Sam’s squad is in their finest form of the season, but Chelsea are their biggest competition yet. The Toffees haven’t beaten the London club in the league since 2015. If they can must a point (or three), it could see them bounce up to eighth in the league, well within range of European competition.

These two sides have already met once this year. Chelsea prevailed 2-1 in the Carabao Cup at Stamford Bridge, but that was a very different Toffee team. All bets are off for this fixture.
