The tough December period has begun. So far, Everton are doing well. They have four points from two league matches and finished up Europe on a high note. Wednesday brings the Toffees their third straight away game and another chance to gain three points from a struggling top flight squad.

Newcastle have not won a match since October 21st against Crystal Palace, and they have just one point from their last seven games. If there was ever a time to catch the Magpies, it is now.

What will be interesting to watch is how both clubs rotate their squads. It is a busy time of year for everyone. Everton are looking to rocket up the table and get into the European discussion once again. Newcastle are fighting the drop, and have an especially tough schedule with fixtures against Arsenal and Manchester City looming.
