Final Verdict
What a difference scoring first makes! After a sleepy start, Wayne Rooney put the Blues ahead from the penalty spot and for periods after that the Blues were rampant. Of course, the Hammers are an awful side and that helped too. A flowing move started by Jonjoe Kenny ended with Rooney sweeping home the second and the Toffees were looking good to end the first half.
Everton sustained all sorts of pressure to begin the second half, with Jordan Pickford making an incredible penalty save as well. Then Rooney completed his hattrick with an incredible volley to make it 3-0, before Ashley Williams tried to redeem himself in the fans’ eyes with a header from a corner.
