A 1-1-1 Arsenal Women visits an 0-3 Everton Ladies Sunday, a few hours before the lads play. Both are coming off of very decisive wins in the Continental Cup, with Arsenal winning 7-0 over the London Bees while Everton beat Doncaster Rovers Belles 3-0.
Newly brought up to the top league, the Toffees are close to the bottom of the table so far but have shown improvements in each game. They’ve had a few weeks to train for this game and are eager to get a positive result against the Gunners, who are currently in sixth place.
Arsenal’s head coach Pedro Martinez Losa has left his job and the team is currently under assistant coach Ismael Garcia. The team boasts of four Dutch internationals that won the UEFA Women's Euro championship and Jodie Taylor, recipient of the Euro Golden Boot award.
Striker Chloe Kelly, on loan from Arsenal, scored early in the last game and hopes she can get a chance to do the same against her old club:
“Hopefully I have proved myself in the Doncaster game and I can face Arsenal. The performances have been good but we haven’t got the results. Now that we have, it’s great for us and we can go into the Arsenal game full of confidence.”
