The Costa Rican leftback today signed for fellow Premier League side Sunderland, helmed by his former Everton manager David Moyes.
Oviedo has signed a three-and-a-half year deal with the Wearside club and is likely to go straight into the starting eleven after the Black Cats sold Patrick van Aanholt earlier today.
The player has been at Everton since 2012, making 50 appearances and scoring two goals, one of which got the 1-0 win at Old Trafford seen above. He has been plagued with injuries in his time at the club, and didn’t get too many opportunities behind the dependable Leighton Baines.
We say goodbye, but the memories are never forgotten. I am grateful to this great family for all that I have experienced. Thanks Toffees! pic.twitter.com/PtMDCZSwkZ— Bryan Oviedo (@Bryan_Oviedo) January 30, 2017
The player is well-loved by the fans, thanks to his undying spirit and top-class work ethic. And of course, there is that most memorable chant of “Oviedo baby, Oviedo ohh..” that we will not hear at Goodison Park any more. Maybe he’ll get serenaded with it the next time he comes back to Everton with his new side.
