Sky Sports presenter Jim White is often known as both the face and voice of Transfer Deadline Day in the Premier League, as he announces breaking news and done deals. In recent times, and more relevantly to Everton fans, he’s been majority owner Farhad Moshiri’s mouthpiece as he talks about the club.
While slightly strange that the investor would choose a third party to speak to rather then the club’s official PR machine evertontv, we have heard a few communications released from the owner through White.
In an interview with The Everton Show last week after the win at Crystal Palace, White was on hand at Selhurst Park and spoke to the show’s host Darren Griffiths. He went on to talk about his thoughts on new signings Ademola Lookman and Morgan Schneiderlin, what he’s expecting for Everton activity on transfer deadline day (Tuesday 31st) and Moshiri’s vision.
“I think we are going to be busy, I hope Evertonians will be busy, I hope I will be busy on your behalf! I reckon Everton will do well, I think they’ll add to their ranks again.
“When there’s a guy like Moshiri at the top, he always wants the club to go in the right direction, he wants the club to improve all the time.
“I think it will be busy. It’s always the same with me on deadline day - expect the unexpected!”
Pardon us if we’re the slightest bit skeptical - after all, this is the man who promised Everton fans an ‘insane’ summer transfer deadline day and all that happened was a bunch of players linked with the Blues and Enner Valencia signed late, late on.
White tends to be a larger than life character on the television with his set of catchphrases that football fans have grown used to hearing -
- Are you telling me
- Before the window slams shut
- We can confirm to you he is in a helicopter
- Deal or no deal
- Well this is developing all the time
- Hold on to your hats
- I'll have to stop you there Natalie
- My goodness me
- Over to you my good friend
- Put pen to paper
- Sensational breaking news
- Shockaroonie
- Spotted at the training ground
- Well Sky sources are telling us
- And Natalie that is extraordinary
- The clock is ticking
- This just in...
- This one has come right out of left field
- You'll hear it here first
