The long-drawn out saga of Gerard Deulofeu going to AC Milan on loan just took another twist. Just minutes after the Italian side announced that they had captured the winger on a loan deal for the rest of the season, Everton flatly denied the deal was done.
Milan had put up the following tweet welcoming the player to the Rossoneri, but Sky News are now reporting that the deal was not confirmed, and Milan have also now deleted the original tweet.
How the loan term ended has been a sticking point for this deal for some time, with media sources reporting that Everton wanted a clause put in where the Italians would have to buy the player outright at the end of the season. However, word is Milan have resisted that and will now have the choice to retain the player’s services in the summer, paying a £430,000 loan fee with an option to buy him for £15.5m at the end of the current season.
