Kevin Friend is referee for Everton vs Southampton

Referee Kevin Friend will be in charge for Everton’s home game against Southampton on Monday 2nd January. Manager Ronald Koeman will be relishing taking on his former side the Saints for the second time this season. The Blues lost previously away at St. Mary’s 1-0.

Friend officiated two Everton games last season, both away draws at Bournemouth and Watford. The Toffees are 6-3-1 at Goodison Park when Friend has been the referee.

There’s only been one red card handed out to an Evertonian in his games, to Antolin Alcaraz on New Year’s Day 2015.

He has refereed in nine games this season, handing out 45 yellow cards at an average of five per game. He had officiated six straight Southampton home games over three years before tomorrow’s game at Everton.
