Out-of-favour striker Oumar Niasse is part of the 25-player squad list that Everton submitted to the Premier League last week, but is yet to be assigned a number.
After he was not given a squad number at the beginning of the season, there was speculation that the player would be shifted out by the end of the summer transfer window, but a loan move to Russia fell through on deadline day. There was some chatter of other Premier League clubs being interested too, but nothing materialized from that.
Manager Ronald Koeman has been quite harsh about the striker’s prospects at Everton, saying that he basically was not good enough to cut it in the Premier League, and also that he was able to make a very quick decision on the Senegalese player.
Senegal have qualified for the African Cup of Nations to be held in January and February of 2017, but Niasse is very unlikely to join fellow Everton teammate Idrissa Gana Gueye at the competition especially if he is unable to crack the Blues’ lineup. Niasse has three goals in eight caps for the national team.
