From the moment the Premier League schedule came out this summer, it was very clear that Everton needed to take advantage of playing largely inferior opponents for the first two months of the campaign.
After a somewhat tumultuous off-season, there was some doubt that the Toffees would be able to do so, both among Everton supporters at large and among our staff at RBM. But, we've seen confidence spike among our writers.
Last week, each of our writers picked an Everton victory and Ronald Koeman's side came through for us. Those picks were as follows:
|Adam||Kevin Mirallas||Gareth Barry||Everton||1-0|
|Brian||Romelu Lukaku||Idrissa Gana Gueye||Everton||2-1|
In addition to a sweep in terms of winning club, Troy and I both picked the correct scoreline, and Brian, Calvin, and Tyler correctly picked Gueye as Everton's man of the match according to RBM readers.
Those results led to a change at the top of the leaderboard this week:
Tyler and I have taken control at the top of the group, while Matt is continuing to pull up the rear after the first month of the season.
This week, he and every other RBM writer once again picked our favorite club to win, this time against David Moyes and Sunderland.
- Confidence in Lukaku remains high among our writers -- five believe he will find a goal on Monday.
- Gueye has been our man of the match more than any other player so far this season, and our writers have noticed the trend -- five chose the dynamic central midfielder as the Everton MOTM.
- The most predicted final score is 2-0, chosen by four writers. Three of us picked both 3-1 and 2-1, with Mike alone in choosing 1-0.
