Oumar Niasse’s career seems stuck in limbo. The player has not been assigned a squad number for the 2016-17 season, failed to move anywhere else during the just-closed transfer window, and is not in manager Ronald Koeman’s good graces at Everton.
So what happens now?
It’s not like there has been no interest in the player, reportedly. A couple of weeks ago we heard that some Premier League clubs were looking at him, but nothing came out of that.
Koeman has been quite brutal at times with his assessments of the player, and letting him know that he is not needed at the Toffees.
And today we heard that there were three Russian clubs that would be glad to take him on loan, but apparently his wife negated the move.
CSKA, Lokomotiv and Spartak wanted to sign Everton's Oumar Niasse on loan, but his wife rejected a comeback to Russia. (via @ANobelito)

His wife, who has been quite prominent on Twitter, had proclaimed yesterday on the same media -
Be strong, for it may be stormy now, but it can't rain forever.

Not sure what that means in the context of his staying at Everton, but time will tell.
We’ll wait to see what Koeman says tomorrow when asked about the striker’s future, but it’ll be pretty awkward if the Dutchman is forced to redact his previous statements and assign the player a squad number now.
