According to Paul Joyce from the Daily Express, Ashley Williams is expected at Finch Farm today to complete a medical ahead of a move to Everton.

The Blues are in the hunt for a new central defender before the start of the season after John Stones completed his protracted move to Manchester City on Tuesday.

Williams appears to be top of Ronald Koeman’s wish list, having already seen a bid rejected for his services earlier this summer.

It appears they have returned with an improved offer though and the player is making the move, with Joyce claiming that he is on Merseyside to finalise the switch.

That has been corroborated by Wales Online, who claim that the Wales international has already said his goodbyes at the Liberty Stadium and was heading to Goodison.

Sky Sports also report that a fee of £12m has been agreed between Everton and Swansea for the 31-year-old.

According to them, he has agreed a two-year deal with the Toffees not the four-year deal that had been previously reported.

The move will come as a welcome relief to Ronald Koeman, who has so far been met with frustration in his attempts to improve Everton this summer.
