According to the London Evening Standard, Romelu Lukaku is reluctant to upset Everton’s fans as he pushes for a return to Chelsea.

The striker has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park for several months, with him and his agent both declaring his desire to play for a Champions League club.

Everton are reluctant to see him leave though and have placed a £75 million asking price for their man.

So far Chelsea are the only ones to make an offer, but have told the Blues they will only go up to £67 million for their former striker.

That leaves them at something of an impasse and negotiations are thought to be continuing between the two clubs.

In the meantime, Lukaku is considering handing in an official transfer request according to the London Evening Standard.

However, he has failed to do so just yet as he is reluctant to upset the Everton fans, who have backed him strongly since he joined the club.

It remains to be seen if he gets the move he appears to want, with this saga looking likely to drag on just like that with John Stones and Manchester City.
