According to the Mirror, Everton will smash their wage structure to secure Axel Witsel’s move to Goodison Park.
The Blues are keen on the Belgian midfielder, who wants to leave Zenit St Petersburg this summer.
They have made a £28.5 million offer to the Russian giants for their star man, and are willing to offer him big wages to ensure he makes the move to Merseyside.
According to the Mirror, they will offer him a rise on his current £100,000-per-week wages and have offered him £120,00-per-week.
That would see him surpass the current highest earner at the club and see him take home around £6.24 million a year.
Their offer has blown rivals Napoli out of the race for his signature, although Roma remain keen on a deal.
However, the 27-year-old is happy to join Everton and has been impressed by the ambition shown by both Ronald Koeman and majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.
The news certainly fits with previous reports from the club, which had suggested that Moshiri was determined to offer stars big wages this summer in what is looking like the dawn of a new era at Goodison Park.
