Everton have almost sold out their season ticket allocation for the upcoming 2016-17 season. The club announced earlier today that fans who purchased the season tickets will start receiving the cards with the tickets as soon as this weekend.

Fans from different age groups were invited to the Finch Farm training complex to take a sneak-peek at the new season cards.

The club decided to use pictures of Toffee heroes synonymous with the age range of the season ticket holder. ‘Kids’ had their card emblazoned with former goalkeeper Tim Howard, who has been the only starting goalkeeper most of the children that age and younger have known.

Ticket holders in the ‘Juniors’ category will receive former Everton hero Tim Cahill, Duncan Ferguson represents the ‘Young Adult’ group, members of Everton’s 1985 European Cup Winners’ Cup team represent the ‘Adult’ category and ‘Seniors’ are represented by the late, great Howard Kendall.

However, once the news hit #EvertonTwitter is when things really kicked off. Under the not-so-subtle hashtag of #AlternativeEFCSeasonCards, comedy gold ensued as fan after fan sent in their ideas, sometimes sentimental, sometimes sweet, sometimes funny and sometimes downright moronic. And of course, there was plenty of vitriol aimed at the neighbours across Stanley Park. Why? Who needs a reason, just because.
