Everton are set to confirm the appointment of Leicester’s Steve Walsh as the club’s director of football in the next 24 hours.

Sky Sports reported on Tuesday evening that Everton have agreed compensation with Premier League champions Leicester, who have given Walsh permission to speak to the Toffees.

Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri is keen to revamp the coaching structure at Goodison Park with a director of football working alongside manager Ronald Koeman.

Farhad identified Walsh as his prime target after missing out on Sevilla’s Monchi.

Leicester were reluctant to let Walsh leave the club and rejected an approach from Everton on Monday.

However, Moshiri was determined to land his man and is prepared to buy the 63-year-old out of his contract.

Walsh is also keen to talk to the Blues as the job represents a promotion and chance to move closer to his family.

Talks are expected to be concluded quickly and confirmed in the coming days, meaning Everton can then turn their attentions to bolstering the playing squad.
