There have been some great goalkeepers in Everton history, with Neville Southall, Ted Sagar and Gordon West leading the way. Today Tim Howard has joined that pantheon of legendary shotstoppers after playing his last game for the Toffees at Goodison Park, having made 414 appearances with 133 clean sheets.
It was an appropriate send off for the player too, as the Blues romped home 3-0 against Norwich City playing free-flowing football and bolstered by a clean sheet. Howard did not deserve any less. The acrimonious last few months that led to his benching were all forgotten as fans everywhere toasted the player's brilliant career at Everton.
After the game, Howard received a rousing ovation from the entire stadium, and proceeded to give Goodison Park an emotional good bye as he makes his way to the MLS to play for the Colorado Rapids.
Watch the video below, and you will be excused for bawling your eyes out as you say farewell to one of the cornerstones of the Blues over the last decade.
Good luck Tim Howard, we wish you well, and you will always be one of us.
