The Premier League has offically ratified Farhad Moshiri's purchase of a 49.9% stake of Everton today. Supporters who may have still been understandably pessimistic about the deal can finally rest easy.
Now that the purchase has been finalized, the Liverpool Echo reported that Moshiri is expected to attend his first match at Goodison Park this Saturday as Everton take on Chelsea in the FA Cup Quarter-final.
This moment ends what has seemed like an endless search for investment in Everton. Having long been one of the more cash-strapped clubs in the Premier League, it appears that the Toffees may be able to flex some financial muscle in the transfer market. Strong financial backing will also give the team a better chance to keep their young stars like Romelu Lukaku and John Stones.
Most importantly, Moshiri's investment in the team may finally mean serious progress on a replacement for the ageing Goodison Park. There is obviously a long road ahead before any such talk can become a reality, but there is finally real hope that a new stadium is possible in the future.
