Just in time before the loan deadline Everton defender has been sent out for the remainder of the season to League One side Walsall.

The 21-year-old defender has played seven games for the U-21 side this season and two first team games in cup competitions. Everton have loaned Pennington to Tranmere Rovers and Coventry City previously and was Young Player of the Year last season at Coventry City.

Pennington is primarily a center back, but does have some experience at right back. The first team playing time even at a League One side will be big for Pennington in establishing if he can make an impact with the first team at Everton in the future.

With only three center backs in rotation on the senior team and many rumors surrounding two of them it's possible that someone like Pennington could at least compete for more playing time in the 2016-2017 season.

Everton has some solid potential along the back line for the future with Pennington, Brendon Galloway and Tyias Browning all impressing in limited playing time this season. He is currently under contract with Everton until the summer of 2018.
