Everton striker Leandro Rodriguez has joined Championship side Brentford on loan for a month.

The 23-year-old joined Everton from Uruguayan side River Plate Montevideo for £500,000 in the final few days of the summer transfer window on a four-year deal.

At the time manager Roberto Martinez said Rodriguez was not far from being in contention for a place in the first-team squad.

However, he has made just one senior appearance so far, as a late substitute against Dagenham & Redbridge in the FA Cup third round at Goodison Park back in January.

Injury has also restricted Rodriguez to just five appearances for the U21s, with this loan move a chance to regain some match sharpness before the end of the season.

Rodriguez is in line to make his Brentford debut against Blackburn at Griffin Park on Saturday and is due to return to Goodison Park after Brentford's game with Bristol City on April 16.
