The Chinese Super League transfer window is closing this week and with Everton still seeing a team crowded with players all looking for playing time it's looking like one of them could be headed out by Friday.

Steven Pienaar has fallen far down the depth chart and now seems unlikely to see game time in League or Cup games for the rest of the year.

Pienaar has only played in five games all season and has yet to make an impact on the team. His age and fitness are huge issues and the team has so many options at the left midfielder position. Even Kevin Mirallas is still struggling to get significant playing time after the sale of Steven Naismith and would obviously be rated above Pienaar.

With his contract due to end this summer the only question is does Pienaar want to play in China or wait till the summer and see all of his options. There was talk during the winter that he might try to rejoin Ajax this summer, but would be the senior member of that team by some 10 years. I think that was more his agent trying to feel out interest from a team.

The money will certainly be good as Chinese teams will pay well to draw talent from the European leagues, but the transfer amount probably won't be for a player who is out of contract in the summer and 33 years of age. If Everton can get anything over £1 million pounds and his contract off the books they should consider it a win.
