Koeman eyes more signings after Bolasie injury

Ronald Koeman has his eyes set on improving Everton’s options in January and will have to delve deeper into the transfer window after Yannick Bolasie was ruled out for the season.

The Dutchman had already been eyeing up potential signings with director of football Steve Walsh but has now admitted that they must reconsider their strategy after Bolasie was ruled out for potentially the rest of the season.

Koeman explained at his pre-match press conference -

"The necessity now is a little bit more than before because we have lost Yannick for a long time.

"He is going to London for an opinion about his knee, what is the best thing to do and the kind of operation, and then maybe he will go somewhere else to get a second opinion.

"Normally I think the operation will be next week but it is a big disappointment for everyone."

Everton have been linked with a plethora of players in the January window, with Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin being regularly linked to the Toffees. The Everton boss went on record last month when he expressed his desire to sign Memphis should he become available, while Schneiderlin played under Koeman at Southampton before his big money move to Manchester.

When asked about the pair, Koeman explained -

"I don't speak about players from other clubs or rumours. January coming up means that every day in the press means there will be speculation. We will do our work and not mention it to the press."

Everton face Watford next in the early game on Saturday, with the Merseysiders looking to get back to winning ways having won only one game in nine matches.
