Everton will turn to Joel Robles again as Maarten Stekelenburg is yet to resume training after leaving the Merseyside Derby with a dead leg. Robles did well in the Blues last game at Leicester City, and will be called upon once again to marshal the defence.

Midfielder James McCarthy also left the same game at halftime with a hamstring injury and is yet to resume training, though his recovery timeline has been described as 2-3 weeks.

Fellow midfielder Muhamed Besic is on track to return in February from his knee injury, while Bryan Oviedo has resumed training after suffering a knock in training.

Winger Yannick Bolasie is facing a second surgery after he recovers from the first one to heal his damaged anterior cruciate ligament, and will likely miss some time in the 2017-18 season as well as being out for the 2016-17 season.

Hosts Hull City will be missing striker Abel Hernandez who is still at least two weeks away from full recovery after a groin injury. Allan McGregor, Greg Luer and Alex Bruce are also not expected back before the second week of January.

Moses Odubajo and Will Keane are long term absentees with knee injuries, and are not expected back before the end of the current season.
