Everton manager Ronald Koeman addressed the saga created this week by his posting a picture of the family Christmas tree on his Twitter account. Fans, already unhappy about the team’s performances and his apparent admiration of cross-town rivals Liverpool were irate at his having red decorations on the tree, and told him so on social media.
In his press conference ahead of the Manchester United fixture this weekend, Koeman said -
"It was a big mistake of my wife. Put her under pressure!
"No I understand on one side the fanatic blue people. I'm the Everton manager and of course I'm Blue of course - I will do everything to be successful in this great club.
"But I like a glass of red wine and I don't need to shout that I'm a blue if I drink one. But it's funny. I don't take it too seriously."

Koeman had responded on Twitter by showing a picture of a second tree without red decorations, and then following up with a tweet asking for fans to focus on more serious issues.
I Think there are more serious problems in the world, than making a big story out of a #ChristmasTree !!!

He went on to say yesterday -
"The last tweet was about what happens in life. What happened to the Brazilian football team. That's really news in life.
"But okay it was nice and again, a big mistake of my wife."
It was even suggested that he should switch to Blue Nun wine -
"Okay you can change everything in life, what you want to do, change colours, but okay."
