The Dutchman was asked about youngsters Mason Holgate and Tom Davies -

“Yes, they are developing well. That is what we like to do with young players. For young players it’s a long way, it’s not easy to come into the first team in the Premier League.

“But they are developing themselves very well. Mason showed that already in the beginning of the season, and like the last game against Leicester he played well.

“Tom Davies is also developing in that situation and he showed his quality when he came on to replace Gareth Barry. Like everybody else, they have a chance to start at Hull.”

When asked if Davies could spark his midfield -

“That’s all about the qualities of the player. It’s more of a holding midfield position and he is aggressive and strong. I think he can improve in his football. He’s a young player that needs to make steps, but he knows perfectly his situation.”

Koeman had earlier said he was happy with Davies’ performance immediately after the Leicester game. The strong Under 23 side managed by David Unsworth are finally starting to make an impression on the senior side with Dominic Calvert-Lewin getting a few chances recently too.
