Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Morgan Schneiderlin has asked to leave the club.
The Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the January transfer window.
Everton are reportedly very keen on his signature, with manager Ronald Koeman hoping to reunite with his former Southampton star at Goodison Park.
West Bromwich Albion is another possible destination as reports suggested that they have made a £13 million bid already.
So far a deal has not been confirmed by either club but a move certainly appears to be on the cards as Mourinho has confirmed the player has put in a transfer request.
Asked if Schneiderlin had requested to leave the United boss said:
“Yes. Great professional, fantastic boy, very honest, very open and opens his heart a couple of times.
“My answer was, ‘If the offer is right and our board thinks that the offer is a good offer in relation to the quality of a very good player like Morgan, I would not stop him to go’.”
It remains to be seen where Schneiderlin ends up but Blues fans will certainly be hoping it is Merseyside he chooses.
While he may not have flourished in Manchester there is no denying he would be a vast upgrade on the Blues current options, especially if he could rediscover the form he showed under Koeman previously.
First, a deal must be struck, with Mourinho’s comments hinting, they will not be letting their man go on the cheap.
